1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using SPLITO (splito.thedevstory.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the application.

2. Purpose & Computational Tool Disclaimer

SPLITO is provided as an algorithmic mathematical calculator for group expense sharing and debt settlement:

  • Not a Banking or Payment Entity: SPLITO is not a bank, wallet, money transmitter, escrow agent, or licensed financial advisor.
  • External Settlements: All settlements, balances, and calculations are computational suggestions. Users conduct actual payments directly through their personal payment methods (e.g., UPI, cash, bank transfer). SPLITO never holds user funds and charges no transaction commissions.
  • Accounting & Tax Disclaimer: Calculations, tax allocations, tip distributions, and currency conversions are for informal personal estimation only. SPLITO does not provide certified accounting, tax filing, or legally audited financial ledgers.

3. 100% Free Service & No Refund Policy

SPLITO is provided 100% free of charge. We do not charge subscription fees, in-app purchases, or transaction percentages. Because no monetary charges are levied by SPLITO, billing questions and refund obligations do not apply.

4. Acceptable Use, Group Privacy & Prohibition of Sensitive Data

When utilizing SPLITO and its live group chat features, you agree that you will:

  • Refrain from Disclosing Private or Sensitive Data: Do not post or transmit passwords, PINs, bank accounts, debit/credit card details, CVVs, OTPs, or confidential government/personal IDs. Anyone holding the group link can view group messages and expenses. Group chat is not end-to-end encrypted.
  • Keep Conversations General/Trip-Related: Use chat exclusively for trip logistics, dinner planning, shared expense discussions, and general group communication.
  • Prohibit Malicious Behavior: Do not transmit abusive, unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or obscene communications, or deploy automated bots to disrupt services.

5. Ephemeral Storage Notice

SPLITO is engineered with an automatic 30-day purge cycle for inactive cloud groups. While we strive for continuous availability, we do not provide permanent cloud archiving. Users are encouraged to export settlement summaries and receipt PDFs upon concluding an event.

6. Intellectual Property

SPLITO, including its design, branding, custom UI components, algorithms, and documentation, is the proprietary property of The Dev Story. All rights reserved.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

SPLITO IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEV STORY AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING DATA LOSS, UNAUTHORIZED DISCLOSURE BY PEERS, CALCULATION ESTIMATION DISCREPANCIES, OR INTERPERSONAL EXPENSE DISPUTES.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
